EXPECTED DEARNESS ALLOWANCE – From January 2015…..

da

Expectation regarding the increase in Dearness Allowance from January 2015 is gaining momentum…..!!!

As everyone knows that the Central Government provides two installments of Dearness Allowance in a year to the central government employees as per the recommendations of the 6th Central  Pay Commission. The main reason for providing DA is to give some financial assistance for compensating the rising prices of essential commodities.

The Labour Bureau, which is under the Central Government, analyses the price rise of some 120 essential commodities used by a common man, in 48 cities all over India, and submits a report to the government every month and it is known as the AICPIN (All India Consumer Price Index). This  report  is similar to the inflation report which explains the price rises in India. The price index may vary from month to month. It may increase or decrease or remains the same. Based on this report, the DA is calculated by the government.

In the past, information about DA was collected through news and news papers. Even though the information comes a bit late, employees are capable of calculating the DA as per the reports. Some publications are still provides the details of the calculations.

Now-a-days, in this modern world, with the help of computer and internet, news are conveyed within seconds all over the world. Through websites and blogs,  everyone can calculate and interact each other, and their opinions, views etc., are expressed in comments instantly.

As the details of AICPIN for industrial workers (CPI-1W) for the month of October 2014 was released by the Labour Bureau on 30th November 2014 and it remained at 253 points. Calculations and expectations have started to know the increase in DA. It seems that the next installment of DA will be 6% and the total DA will shoot up to 113%. There will be another installment of DA from July 2015 and it will be the last in the 6th CPC.

As everyone eagerly   awaits the 7th CPC to be implemented from the year 2016.. Let us all hope for the best….
