Ban Lifted on Promotions of Telangana Government Employees…

Giving much-needed relief to state government employees, particularly those on the verge of retirement, the Telangana  government on Tuesday lifted the ban on promotions and transfers of state-cadre employees, and employees working in the Secretariat.

Promotion and transfer of state-cadre employees had earlier been banned till the allocation of state-cadre employees between the successor states of AP and TS was made. However, it was brought to the notice of the state government that a number of eligible employees retired and some were going to retire shortly without getting promotions due to the ban. Besides, it will take considerable time to complete the process of final allocation of cadre strength, vacancies and employees between AP and TS by the central government.

After examining the matter, gave permission on Tuesday to make promotions, appointments by transfers involving promotions, purely on temporary and ad hoc basis, to the posts having state cadre and also to the posts in the Secretariat, heads of departments, state-level offices etc which fall entirely in the state of Telangana. However, such proposals should be placed before the relevant Departmental Promotion Committee and following relevant instructions including seniority, reservations in promotions, etc.
