Government says overall life and business remained normal in most parts of country during nationwide strike…
Union Government has said that overall life and business remained normal in most parts of the country in the wake of day long nationwide strike called by Central Trade Unions today. No report of loss of life or property was reported from any part of the country. In a statement, Labour Ministry said, the important sectors including Railways, Civil aviation and Major Ports remained unaffected.
The Ministry said, the impact of strike was seen in Kerala and Tripura while states like Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh were partially affected. In other states strike’s impact remained negligent. Delhi government has imposed Essential Services Maintenance Act, against the nurses. City’s public transport remained unaffected and banks were open.
All major central trade unions, except RSS-associated Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh joined the strike to press for their twelve point charter of demands. They have termed the government’s recent announcements for two-year bonus and hike in minimum wage as inadequate.
