PRIVATISATION OF ORDNANCE FACTORIES
- DR. ANBUMANI RAMADOSS:
Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has taken a decision to privatize Ordnance Factories of the
country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether ordnance factory present at Trichy, Tamil Nadu will be privatized and if so, the
(c) whether in the recruitment of Group B&C technical and non-technical posts by Avadi
Heavy Vehicle factory, Tamil Nadu is done with the help of regional employment exchanges in
order to attract eligible candidates belonging to State of Tamil Nadu and are given first
preference over candidates from States in the process of recruitment;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the number and percentage of candidates from the State of
Tamil Nadu selected by Heavy Vehicle Factory, Avadi, Tamil Nadu out of total recruitments
happened in the past ten years, category-wise; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a) & (b): No, Madam. At present, there is no proposal to privatize Ordnance
Factories of the country.
(c) All recruitments of Group B&C Technical and Non-technical posts are
conducted through All India Open Competition basis by publishing advertisement
in Employment News, local daily newspaper and by placing requisition in the
local Employment Exchange. In the process of recruitment, appointments are
only made as per merit.
(d) & (e): Do not arise in the view of the reply cited at (c) above.
